Hi, Friends!
Thereโs a saying: We overestimate what we can do in a day, week, or month but underestimate what we can achieve in a year, five, or even ten. That idea hit home last night when the first cohort of Project Opus got together for a new HeadSpace session.
One thing I hear from clients all the time is how hard it is to find the space to step back and look at the big picture of their lives, careers, and businesses.
Sound familiar?
HeadSpace is designed to help them do just thatโcreate time to reflect and see the bigger picture.
Reflection is powerful. Itโs how you check in with yourself: How are you doing? Where are you headed? Whatโs happening with your goals? Your life? Your work? And itโs a core practice ofย Live Your Opus.
Last night, we focused on personal growth over the past year, using those insights to zero in on whatโs most important between now and the end of 2024.
What really struck me last night was this: everyone in that session is high-achieving. No slackers here. Theyโve all been working on themselves and their dreams for nine months or more.
And yet, what they were most proud of wasnโt the long list of impressive achievements.
It was who theyโve become over the past year.
Most hadnโt realized how much theyโd grown, how far theyโd traveled. Their dreams were taking shapeโsometimes in unexpected waysโand many realized it was time to ease off the gas and enjoy the ride a bit more.
When was the last time you reflected on your progress?
Hereโs a simple way to start, especially if you're taking part in the 90 Days To Live Your Opus Challenge:
Today is October 10th, 2024. Look back to this time last year:
What was happening in your life?
How would you describe your mindset, priorities, and habits?
What were you working towards?
Now, fast-forward to today:
What significant changes or shifts have taken place?
How are you different from the person you were a year ago?
What are you more confident or less confident about now?
As you think ahead to the rest of 2024:
What strengths or lessons from this year can guide you forward?
Whatโs your top priority for October?
Iโd love to hear an insight or question that pops up for youโfeel free to share in the comments.
